  • #8: It’s getting closer… and the issue is less about the technology and more about the willingness of L&D to drive “performance Enablement agenda” as much as a Learning agenda! And perhaps that is what the business always wanted but never got???? Performance enablement… not courses… The purpose of Life is not knowledge, but action!
  • #10: MOOCS… Before you start thinking OMG he’s talking CBEEBIES at us let’s explain what they are… I know Pat is involved in one at the moment… Before I explain – these have been around since 2009 – And with out wanting to do any shameless shame dropping - I didn’t know anything about them until June this year… When I was talking with a good friend in Google… (but obviuosly not a good enough friend to get me a job there… he introduced me to MOOCs with the words… “they are Cool”… So what is a MOOC…? Let’s hear from Dave Cormier… (PLAY VIDEO) So…imagine the best Unis with the biggest brains offering their knowledge for free… and allowing to you connect to similiarly interested people… to study for the love and interest of it… anywhere from around the globe… IN MY VIEW – this could / Will change the way we look at education… massively… It rewrites the Higher education system… you no longer need to be enrolled into an insititution you just need to PARTICIATE AND CONTRIBUTE! It will rewrite the way your children approach education through Coursera.com and Udacity.com for example… it will revolutionise your LIFE LONG LEARNING! If you want to do a course about E-learning from the University of Edinburgh.. Its here and it free… If you want to learn about Statistic, Physics, Business Start Ups from MIT, Standford, Cambridge…
  • #14: Overall… L&D has been ok at moving to deliver all these modalities… Balance of Power has shifted to the Worker… time, pace and place convenient to me… But the business environment hasn’t slowed down… It is more compliance driven, more agile, moving faster, more products, more niche market complexity And the best organisations are thinking really hard about… And this moves us to more of a WORKPLACE focus… EVEN Faster… Time to competency EVEN greater Speed to Release Even more effective Compliance Aligned to driving Performance is the currency of the day… If you can’t articulate your value, not is training days but in business value… Customer Advocacy, Customer Satisfaction, Revenues and Sales, then… I believe the world will over take you…
  • #15: 70, 20, 10 ??? Having a balanced Approach across all delivery channels – based on your learners needs is critical… the rise of Workplace Learning, performance Support and Performance Optimisation is key… In my view… the long term future of this chart will see the growth of Workplace learning and the decline of Formal training… because it’s performance not learning that matters…
