Management Workshop
Operational Effectiveness & Management Program
This course track is intended to be
transitional track in order to better leverage
an Engineer’s skill to make them competent
in latest skills required to improve them into
a industry leader with best in class know
how about latest industry standards.
The course aims to enable to maintain
process changes in order to implement and
introduce new process innovations.
This course will enable the operational
managers to understand all nuances of
manufacturing operations

Who should attend
All Senior Managers
Department Head
SBU Head
Production Manager
Quality Managers
Operations managers are the bridge between
the top management plans and daily
operations. For achieving the top target, the
operation manager would be able to
1. Remove clutter and uncertainty in process
improvements through Value Stream
Mapping
2. Map efficient resource utilization through
Theory of Constraints
3. Reduce Overhead by efficient Inventory
Management
4. Increase efficiency by reducing wastages
by using Time and Motion studies or
formation improvements
5. Boost worker morale by workplace
management
Benefits of Attending
Over the last three years 300+ Participants
from 3 Manufacturing units have attended
this session
The goal of an operations manager is
to maintain and standardize the ever
changing process improvements .
This training is designed in order to
empower Operation Managers to
identify the points of improvements
and implement improvement activities
and sustain this through standard
operating practices.

M 1
Work place
management &
safety at work
place
A properly managed workplace is a key to better performance. It helps boost the morale of the
workers as well as visual appealing. A safe workplace is not only requirement of shop floor but it’s a
regulatory and legal requirement.
M 2
Line, Cell and Flow
management
Manufacturing concepts like single piece flow, work optimization, FIFO flow etc are major back bone of
Lean Manufacturing concepts. By implementation of these organization can move toward the first step
of profitability improvement
M 3
Lean layout
development
Manufacturing layout considerations are central to lean because they are so closely related to waste
reduction – particularly the waste of transportation. Also continual flow and minimising work in
progress are clearly impacted by plant layout. Moving machines and workstations closer together with
a considered, logical layout can dramatically reduce lead-times.
M 4
Theory of
constraints
TOC systematically focus efforts, energy and attention on the "system constraint." This constraint, or
bottleneck, restricts the output of the entire system and at the same time represents the primary
leverage point for improving it. TOC adopts the common idiom "a chain is no stronger than its weakest
link".
M 5
Simple & Low Cost
Automation
Cost reduction is a major pillar for profitability. The Operational manager should be able to
conceptualize and design simple and low cost automation which can be made in house, with less than
2 years RoI. The SLCA can bee applicable to design Poka Yoke systems and support elements
M 6
Total Productive
maintenance
(TPM)
TPM emphasizes proactive and preventative maintenance to maximize the operational efficiency of
equipment. The implementation of a TPM program creates a shared responsibility for equipment that
encourages greater involvement by plant floor workers.
M 7
Time & motion
study
Time-study and motion-study, both of which are scientific studies in search of optimization of
performance by understanding the time and labour required. They eliminate unnecessary motions,
fatigue, and seek to improve human efforts in doing a job.
M 8
Ergonomics in
manufacturing
To optimize the integration of man and machine in order to increase productivity with accuracy. To
improve working postures, increasing safety Developing most comfortable conditions related to
climate, lighting, ventilation and noise level.
M 9
Value stream
mapping
The objective of value stream mapping is a continuous improvement of business processes.. Analyzing
and Understanding Customer value and the key elements and methods of Value Stream Mapping
M 10
Kanban & Just-in
time (JIT)
To meet Just in Time goals, the process is based on the KANBAN signal between different production
points, which tells you what to do next. JIT manufacturing is an efficiently coordinated production
system that makes it possible to deliver the right quantities of products to the place they are needed
just in time.
M 11
Inventory
management
A firm should neither hold excessive inventories nor hold inadequate inventories, i.e., it should hold
the optimum level of inventory. There must not be an over investment or under investment in
inventories.
M 12 VA & VE
As an engineering function, Value Engineering uses a process of function cost analysis to identify
features that can be changed to reduce cost without affecting the quality of the facility. The main
objective is to reduce project cost, without reducing the quality.
