Registering a student ID in the library allows students to check out books from their university library as well as other affiliated libraries. It also provides access to online library resources once registered. Creating a library catalog account enables students to renew books and request books from other libraries. The barcode number on a student ID is needed to create a library catalog account, search articles online from off campus, and access course materials posted by professors. Students should contact the circulation desk or library staff if they need to re-register a new student ID or are unable to access online articles after registering their ID more than 24 hours prior.

- 1. What happens when I register my student ID in the library? You can check out books from CTU’s library, and you can get an ACTS card to allow you to check out books from ACT libraries like JKM, and also the University of Chicago. You cannot use library online resources, such as online journal articles, until you have registered your ID.
- 2. What happens when I create an account in the library catalog? You can renew books and request books from other libraries.
- 3. Why do I need to know the barcode number on my student ID? This number is used as your library barcode number, and you will need it to create your own account in the library catalog, to search for articles and other online library resources from off campus, and to access library articles professors may post on their coursepage on Union/Moodle.
