                                                 After logging in to Moodle, click on the course in which you want
                                               to post your responses in the discussion forum, say Demo Course.

                                                             Click on the name of the forum.
                                               In this case, we choose How to be a good Teacher.

                     Discussion topics and the creators of the topics in this discussion forum are listed on the forum’s main page.

                                Click on the topic which you want to post a response to, say “A good teacher is like a candle”.

                                  Click on the Reply button in the bottom right corner of the post to post your response.

                     A text editor will then appear. In the Subject field, the topic of the post that you are replying to is displayed.

          In the Message text box, type in your message. The text box is a mandatory field.You can include images, web links, etc in your

                      Moodle Course and Using HTML Editor to Insert an Image in Moodle to learn how to use the HTML editor.)

                                   In the Subscription field, you can set your subscription preference on whether or not
                                        you would like to receive email notifications for messages posted in this forum.
                                (Please note that the setting will take effect immediately once it is selected until you change it again.)

                   You can attach a file to your message to provide additional information. To do so, click on the Browse ... button
                                next to the Attachment field to select the file to be uploaded from your computer.
                                          (Please note that the size of an attached file should not exceed 10 MB.)

          By default, the Mail now box is not checked and the email notification of this post will be sent to the course participants 30
          minutes after you post it to the forum. (Please note that the Mail now function is not available to students, i.e. the email notifications
                        of their posts will only be sent to the course participants 30 minutes after their posts are posted to the forum).

                             If the Mail now check box is checked, the email notification will be sent to the course participants
                                                    immediately after you have posted the message.

                                               Lastly, click on the Post to forum button to finish.

          After posting your message, you will receive an acknowledgement. As the Mail now check box is NOT checked in this case,
         you will be reminded that you will have 30 minutes to edit your post.You can revise your post within this period if you wish to.
                                        In fact, teachers are eligible to edit posts in the forums any time.

                                               Click on the Continue button to return to the discussion page.

                                             If there is a long list of responses and you want to view the parent post
                                 (i.e. the original post that the messages are replying to), click on the Show parent button.

                         You can also split a discussion at any particular post using the Split function. Click on the Split button.

     A new discussion is formed and you are advised to rename it. Type the name of the new discussion in the Discussion name field,
                            say ‘Teachers as Role Models’ in this case. Then click on the Split button to confirm.

       The selected post will then become a new discussion topic. The posts replying to it will also be transferred to this new discussion.
                                Click on “How to be a good Teacher” to return to the forum’s main page.
