This rubric evaluates students on their reading comprehension of a text by answering questions in three areas: general understanding, grammar/spelling and vocabulary, and notes. For general understanding, students can show excellent, good, in progress, or needs improvement understanding of vocabulary and answering questions. For grammar, spelling and vocabulary, students are evaluated on their use of language features from very few errors to most words being misspelled. The rubric notes that students should upload it to their eportfolio with a small reflection on the activity.

General Understanding The student shows an excellent general understanding of the vocabulary and information, with all the questions completed. The student shows a good general understanding of the vocabulary and information, with most questions completed. The student does not understand a lot of the vocabulary and information, he/she is able to complete some of the questions. The student does not understand enough vocabulary or information to answer the questions. Grammar/Spelling & Vocabulary The student uses subject/verb agreement, makes use of sequence connectors and write complete sentences that make sense. Very few spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and grammatical errors. Ideas are always expressed using strong and precise language. Good use of linking words. Average amount spelling, capitalization, punctuation, or grammatical errors. Ideas are sometimes expressed using strong and precise language. Use of linking words. Many spelling, capitalization, punctuation, or grammatical errors. Ideas are never expressed using strong or precise language. Use of linking words, but some of them has been used wrongly. Most words are misspelled, very little correct capitalization, punctuation, & grammar. No use of linking words.
