- 1. 1. Karen – Shooting Script Trailer disclaimer CUT TO: With a black background, a typing effect comes across the screen with the title in the centre: “October 1960” FADE IN: INT. KOREAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL – HALLWAY – NIGHT 19:00 Long shot - man murdering a student in school, stabbing her to death, holding her by her throat. The student screams (SFX) as she is being murdered. FADE TO BLACK: PenningtonProductions appears on the screen with a black background. CUT TO: Dimension Films, Blumhouse Productions presents comes across the screen in a typing effect with a black background. VOICEOVER (at the same time) EVAN In the 60’s there was a girl called KAREN and she was murdered one night in our school. The school hired investigator after investigator but they were still unable to find out who the murderer was… CUT TO: With a black background, a typing effect comes across the screen with the title in the centre: “October 2016” CUT TO: Extreme close up shot of characters eyes opening that looked dark, tired and evil. FADE TO BLACK: EXT. KOREAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL – DAY 08:10 Mid shot to long tracking shot - MARY walking into the entrance of the school. CUT TO:
- 2. 2. “A girl joins a school” typing effect across the screen on a black background. CUT TO: MARY connects to the “Karen Network”, awakening the spirit of KAREN. CUT TO: “With no idea what’s coming…” typing effect across the screen on a black background. INT. KOREAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL – CLASSROOM – DAY – 13:30 Mid shot – MARY and LUCY working in a free lesson. CUT TO: The knife of a character’s hand as they drags it down the walls. CUT TO: The light in the classroom suddenly switches off. MARY What was that? LUCY Oh, probably just a loose wire or something... LUCY gets up from her seat and walks to the light switch to switch on the lights. CUT TO: The mysterious character continues to the hallway with a knife in their hand. VOICEOVER (at the same time) EVAN I know it sounds creepy but really she’s harmless, all she does is close doors or plays with the electrical circuits but she’s never done anything harmful... yet. CUT TO:
- 3. 3. INT. KOREAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL – GYM – DAY – 14:00 Two shot- NICK grabs hold of MARY's hand and drags her out of the gym – out of frame. CUT TO: INT. MARY’S APARTMENT – NIGHT – 22:00 Mid close up shot - CHLOE dares MARY in a slightly scary manner, trying to scare MARY. CHLOE I dare you to go to the toilet and do the “ritual” to wake KAREN up. CUT TO: Mid shot – Chloe and Mary are in the bathroom, infront of mirror. Chloe is teaching Mary the “ritual”. A voiceover of a voice repetitively saying “KAREN” is played at the same time. A flashing shot of MARY’S dream of KAREN’S message saying “Kill them all” flickers with the ritual clip. CUT TO BLACK: INT. KOREAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL – CLASSROOM – DAY – 13:30 The mysterious character walks down the hallway with the knife raised up. The clip is flickers between MARY trying to sleep at the same time. Title: “Karen” appears across the screen in red on a black background. CUT TO BLACK: The trailer credits appear. CUT TO BLACK:
