We've had a great start to our Fall Season with a presentation last month

October Meeting Notes
By Todd DeLuca
The Chapter was honored to host Joe Welinske, President of WritersUA for
an informative and eye-opening presentation on October 18th in Plymouth
Meeting. In his talk, 'Write More, Write Less - Embracing the Value of
Crafted Words and Images,' Joe raised a number of ideas and suggestions
for having a greater impact on the job. This included becoming involved in
the design process (i.e., writing help topics, etc.) and offering more value to
an employer by writing different content (such as contributing an article for a
newsletter or a company column or blog).
One of the points I most identified with was that not all topics are created
equally. Sometimes there's more value in spending extra time on a few
important or 'high impact' topics rather than spreading your time evenly
amongst a complete set of topics that may not answer or meet the needs of
the intended audience. I know from my own experience that customers are
more appreciative of common FAQ or troubleshooting topics that solve
problems than with a complete reference guide that includes topics on
features or functionality that is self-explanatory or rarely used. It's these
types of choices that can improve satisfaction or make the difference
between a 'thank you' or a 'that's good to know, but...'
