- 8. Module Mini-Reflection What are the benefits and/or challenges of using presentation platforms like Google Slides? Among the benefits of using presentation platforms like Google slides, increasing student engagement (or any individual’s engagement) is one of the major ones. Google slides, for example, can be rich with color, constant change, and virtually any image imaginable, thus being more likely to maintain a learner’s attention. An additional benefit is that a presentation platform like Google slides can be one resource that holds many others, for links, videos, and diagrams can be embedded within it (just like this one!). Presentation platforms also aid in the organization and flow of certain topics or lessons, especially if they are multi-faceted and hard to present in a progressive, clear manner. Last, presentation platforms such as Google slides can be referred back to, allowing a lesson to always be clarified if need be. This is an important benefit of using presentation platforms, for traditional lessons that do not utilize these tools can never fully be revisited.
