Technology

   Technology is very important to
media, and without it, wouldn’t be able
to exist. Technology is used to
  create, edit, market, and consume
                 media.
Production
• As our music video is an animation, we had to rely heavily on
computers and various software programs. For our images that we
had to create, we used Microsoft paint. This was the easiest way for
us to make our slides as all 3 of our group could work on the video at
the same time, which speeds up production. To make our animation
‘move; we would draw an image, save it, and then move it
slightly, save it and repeat the process until the scene is done For
certain scenes use added effects to our image by using adobe
Photoshop CS5. It allowed us to add effects such as lens flares, as well
as other modifications to how a shot would look.
Editing
• The purpose of editing is to determine the pacing and mood font the scene. It is
also used to advance the narrative via connecting footage and cutting scenes.
Proliferation of technology has allowed the editing of footage to take place on
computers, instead of the old method of cutting the actual film reel. Our editing
process was performed using adobe premier CS4. We added all of the images
that we have created into the programs timeline and began arranging them in
the correct order and setting the time of each frame to be in sync with the
music. Editing our footage was a very time consuming process. However it was
made considerably worse due to our technology being lacking as the computers
we were using weren’t powerful enough. This is an example of technology being
    insufficient and hindering our progress.
Consumption of media

• Before the introduction of the internet, the only ways to listen to
music was record, CD or listen to the radio. The internet changed
this, with services such as iTunes that allow people to purchase and
consume songs without needing to buy albums or leave there
computer. Piracy is also another factor which allows the consumption
of songs for free. For our music video, we will have it posted onto
YouTube. This is good as YouTube is a popular video streaming
site, allowing it to have a lot of coverage for our video. This level of
convenience that comes with the proliferation of the internet has
made consuming media a lot easier. This means that the frequency of
media consumption is likely to increase.
Feedback

• The proliferation of the internet has introduced social networking
to the masses. This allows us to gain a great deal of feedback from
our audience. It would also allow us to market and advertise our
product a great deal more efficiently, due to the fact that sites such
as facebook have a large amount of members.
