Informational interviewing is a powerful job search strategy where a job seeker schedules an appointment with a professional to ask them questions about their career and industry. One out of every 12 informational interviews results in a job offer, compared to only one out of every 200 resumes submitted. Informational interviews help with career planning, developing a job search strategy, networking, and gaining advice from people currently working in the desired field. Job seekers should utilize their network and research contacts on LinkedIn to set up these informational meetings with targeted professionals.

- 3. What is Informational Interviewing? Informational Interviewing (or Professional Development Dialogues) are a great way to seek advice. This is typically done by visiting an individual, by appointment, often at their office, where the interviewee has great questions designed to assist him/her to gain knowledge about: • A specific job • Your career goals • Your job search activities • Your marketability • Your networking strategies • Industry projections for the future
