results in a job offer.
What is Informational
Interviewing?
Informational Interviewing (or Professional Development Dialogues)
are a great way to seek advice. This is typically done by visiting an
individual, by appointment, often at their office, where the
interviewee has great questions designed to assist him/her to gain
knowledge about:
• A specific job
• Your career goals
• Your job search activities
• Your marketability
• Your networking strategies
• Industry projections for the future
Why is Informational
Interviewing important?
Informational Interviewing is important because it helps with:
• Career planning
• Job search strategy development
• Network building/creating alliances
• Advice from individuals doing what you’d like to do.
Get started by:
• Contact your network (friends, family members, others to see if
they know established professionals you would benefit from by
contacting); the power of people.
• Research your LinkedIn network; look for specific individuals
through groups and targeted companies
