• #4: Kodak was a brand that had been associated with photography for over a century The company was founded in 1888 by a man named George Eastman In 1975 a Kodak engineer actually invented the digital camera but the product was dropped for fear it would threaten Kodak’s film business In 1976 Kodak had a 90% market share of photographic film sales and 85% market share of the camera sales in the US Despite inventing most of the components of the digital camera and attempting to embark on a digital strategy in 1990, the digital strategy was never fully implemented In 2012 the company filed for bankruptcy
• #5: So why do companies like Kodak fail? The “Turnaround Management Society” asked 405 turnaround managers and restructuring experts: “What are the most common internal causes for a corporate crisis that you have experienced?” While some of the answers overlap, they point to the root causes of failure: “Management held onto strategies that were” --- Kodak believed film based photography for consumers and commercial uses, such as, health care would continue unabated “Management did not want to adapt” --- even after seeing the movement to digital, Kodak never really fully committed to a digital strategy “Management had not vision” --- Kodak was not able to see how digital photography would revolutionize the imaging business How many Communications Service Providers (CSPs) seen the movement to mobile, digital, or the impact OTT’s have had on the customer’s experience and are in denial regarding the impact on their business?

HTML-based Apps – unable to access device hardware The group also developed network API technology – most importantly payment API’s After two years in operation WAC was folded into GSMA and the assets were sold to a third party The network API activities continue under GSMA
