UMUC aims to provide no-cost educational materials for all students by utilizing open educational resources (OER) and free courseware, targeting 100% availability in undergraduate and graduate courses by 2016. The initiative has already saved students an estimated $3 million in textbook costs. Progress includes increasing e-resource courses and enhancing subscription services to provide free access to e-books across various disciplines.
