This two-day training workshop on engineering design and analysis of embankment dams will cover topics such as understanding different types of dams, schematic layouts of embankment and concrete dams, basic elements and classification of embankment dams, use of local materials in embankment dams, design criteria focusing on stability, zones and slopes, freeboard calculations, and analysis of seepage. The director of the workshop has a PhD in water resources engineering and will introduce the general content outline and understanding of dams and appurtenant hydraulic structures. Key design aspects of embankment dams such as embankment zones, core, and foundations will also be discussed.
