What I used
- 1. What I did on Photoshop and QuarkXPress Emee
- 2. Tools I used on Photoshop to modify the picture. The zoom in/out tool to have a clear look at the picture whilst rubbing out the background. This option allows you to change the sharpness/size of the rubber or paintbrush. Here are all the saturation/brightness/ contrast tools which I have used to make the picture brighter and the contrast darker. This is the foreground colours and I chose black against white to help me to see clearly and know what I am rubbing out. Here is the rubber.

What are the different things that I did on Photoshop: Before Photoshop After Photoshop Using various size and texture rubber on Photoshop along with white colour foreground I rubbed out the background so I can get Michael just on its own. Using the saturation/contrast/brightness tools I changed the colour of the picture, making him look brighter and having natural and softer colour on the skin. I also increased the saturation of the hat so that it is brighter and merges with the color of my contents page. I saved the picture as PNG so from Photoshop so that it’s easier to upload on QuarkXPress.
- 4. Taking off the background on QuarkXPress When I embedded the picture on my contents page it had a white background which didn’t match with the gradient background of my contents page. So therefore, to get rid of the background there is a “modify” option when you right click then this tab comes up and and if you click on the “picture” from the following tabs and click on where it says “colour” you choose the option “none” and that takes out the background. Thus making it appealing to look at.
- 5. Adding drop shadow on QuarkXPress Also on the modify option there is a “drop shadow” tab that allows you to add shadowy effect on your texts so that it stands out. You just have to tick the box where it says “apply drop shadow” and then choose a colour of the shadow, in this case I chose black and then you just press “apply”.
