This document summarizes a student project to design, implement, and test a prepaid energy meter. The project aims to minimize costs while overcoming problems with traditional billing systems. It presents the motivation, objectives, history of metering systems, block diagram, tools used, an overview of the device, practical test data, limitations, and future scope. The prepaid energy meter is intended to control electricity usage, avoid wastage, and minimize theft in a cost-effective manner compared to post-paid systems commonly used in Bangladesh and other Asian countries.
