Krishna showed Arjuna his universal form to prove his divinity as the Supreme Lord. Arjuna was given divine vision to see Krishna's spectacular universal form which contained unlimited mouths, eyes, weapons, and emanated a light of hundreds of thousands of suns. Krishna did this to fulfill the criteria for anyone claiming to be God by demonstrating his control over the entire universe. In the present age, no one can legitimately claim to be an incarnation of Krishna unless they too show their universal form, as Krishna is the only God and all living beings remain eternal parts of him.

- 1. STANDARD IX CHAPTER 11 THE UNIVERSAL FORM Only throughdivineeyes of devotion, you can see Krishna Lesson-01 In order to prove to the world that Krishna is the Supreme Lord, Arjuna asks Krishna to show him His universal form. This chaptergives a brief description of the universal form. It ends by showing how Krishna’s two- handed form is superior to even His universal form WHAT IS A UNIVERSAL FORM? Krishna showed his gigantic form to Arjuna that included the entire universe. Even as a small baby, Krishna showed entire universe inside His mouth to mother Yashoda. Arjuna saw in that universal form unlimited mouths, unlimited eyes, unlimited wonderful visions. The form was decorated with many celestial ornamentsand bore many divine upraised weapons. If hundredsof thousands of suns were to rise at once into the sky, that much light was coming out of that universal form.
- 2. WHY DID KRISHNA SHOW HIS UNIVERSAL FORM? Lord Krishna gives Arjuna divine vision and reveals His spectacularform as the universe. Thus He proves His divinity. Arjuna has already accepted Krishna as God, but for others to believe Krishna’s divinity, he is asking Krishna to show His universal form. So anyone who claims to be God in today’s day and age must fulfill the criteria that Krishna has set. If one claims himself to be Krishna then he must be ready to show his Universal form. Otherwise he is bogus. And accordingto scriptures, Krishna does not appear in Kali yuga, the present yuga, apart from His appearanceas Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who appeared in Sri Mayapur dham. And when He appeared, He did show His universal form to His confidential associates. So in present days, there is no question of any incarnation of Krishna. No one can become God by meditation or any technique. God is always God and the God will always be God. Krishna and God are one and the same. All of us are jivas (minute part and parcel of Krishna) and will always remain so for eternity.
