CHAPTER 04
GURU AND KRISHNA
Whenever the world is in mess, Krishna appears to make
it right
Lesson-03
WHEN DOES KRISHNA APPEAR IN THIS WORLD?
Whenever and wherever there is decline in religious
principles and predominant rise in irreligiosity, Krishna
appears in this world. Lord says that whenever He
descends on earth (technically, ava-tara), He appears in
His original transcendentalform.
Only Krishna can manufacture the system of religion.
Thus the principles of religion are the direct orders of the
Supreme Personalityof Godhead. Highest principle of
religion is to surrenderunto Him only, and nothingmore.
Krishna comes to re-establish the highest religion (or
dharma), which is devotional service unto Krishna.
Krishna is not interested in re-establishing this religion or
that religion manufactured by men. A person of one
religion can change to anotherreligion. But the real
religion means original naturethat cannot be changed.
Just like the natureof water is to flow or the natureof fire
is to be hot. This nature cannot be changed because it is
the original natureof that particularentity. If fire is not
hot, it cannot be called as fire. Similarly, the real nature
(or religion) for all of us is to love Krishna and to serve
Krishna, the Supreme Personalityof Godhead. This
dharma is the real dharma as it cannot be changed.
IS KRISHNA’S APPEARANCE SIMILAR TO MY BIRTH?
Krishna says: “One who knows the transcendental
(supernatural)natureof My appearanceand activities
does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in
this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O
Arjuna.”
Krishna's birth is not like an ordinary child who is
conceived through union of a material father and mother.
Krishna appeared first in the heart of Vasudeva and from
his heart He was transferred to Devaki’s heart. Then He
appeared in His four handed Vishnu form in front of both
of them and then He became a small child.
When He was only 3 days old, He killed the gigantic
demoness Putana, who came to feed Him poison. In His
young age He killed ferocious demons like Shakatasur,
Trinavarta, Aghasura, Bakasura, Keshi, Arishtasura,
Vatsasura who were sent by Kamsa, the mighty demon
who was later to be killed by Krishna alone. At the age of
7, He lifted the Govardhan mountain to protect all His
Vrajvasis. Later when He shifted to Dvarka, He married
16108 wives who were all His devotees and He was
simultaneouslypresent with all of them by expanding
Himself in as many forms. These are certainly extra
ordinary transcendentalactivities of the Lord.
In otherincarnationsalso He perform majestic feats
which noneof us can imitate. In his Boar incarnation, He
lifted the earth from ocean. In His Vaman incarnation,He
covered the entire planetarysystem with His two steps. In
His Balaram incarnation,He dragged the whole
Hastinapur city to sink it under Yamuna. In His Purusha
incarnation, He is sustaining all the universes.
The devotee, simply by understandingthat the birth, body
and activities of Krishna are supernatural, attains the
abodeof the Lord Krishna (Goloka Vrindavan) after
ending this body and does not run the risk of returning to
this material world.
