P&V is a leading Belgian insurance company with over a century of history. It has over 35 million documents stored in Alfresco. P&V aims to be paperless by digitizing incoming documents and distributing them to agents digitally for faster response times. This improves customer satisfaction and reduces costs compared to physical archiving and distribution. Employees can also access documents remotely. Key challenges include ensuring the system is highly available, performs well under high usage, and is easy for users to interface with. The technical architecture involves clustering for high availability, optimization for performance targets, and integration with scanning and backend systems.
