knowledge. The trick is
to incorporate new
knowledge and skills
with tried and true
methods.
Critical reflection is a significant way
to
improve our expertise. Knowledge is
not static. It is essential to stay ahead
on the topic you are teaching to avoid
falling behind on information.
If not we can fall into two cliches of
being trapped in the past.
Cliche 1: “ He tells it like it was”
Cliche 2 “ Shedoesn’t have
twenty years of experience; she
has one year of experience
twenty times over”
Most often the best
strategy to learn a new
topic is to be asked to
teach it! Think of
teaching as a form of
learning.
