- 1. Character Breakdowns For Uncover Anna Wright, 18 Years Old Physical characteristics: long brown hair, green eyes, white American, medium height and slim, female. She wears preppy, bright clothing. Personality: sociable, kind, inquisitive, intelligent, wants to get involved and will take things upon herself as she wants to help. She often feels burnt out by doing things for other people and not herself. She uses her popular image as a mask. Born/lives: Dartmouth, Massachusetts, USA with her mother Kathleen, father and brother. Her father John is in the military and based abroad. Her brother, Jason is studying engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (Pennsylvania) but visits often. Jason and his father are close and bond over engineering. As a result Anna and her mother are close, but Anna feels pushed out by her brother when her father returns home. She recently graduated from Dartmouth high school and is preparing to study English literature at University in California (Berkeley). She enjoys reading classic literature in her spare time and watching television. Anna is popular and has a large group of friends with whom she regularly hangs out with. The friendship group go to the movies, the retro diner or hang out at someone’s house. Kathleen Wright, Mid 40’s Physical characteristics: mid length brown hair, green eyes, white American, tall and slim, female. She is often in business attire. Personality: caring, wants to be there for her children but works constantly. Helpful and wants to be seen in a good light by the community, tries to be there for everyone but never takes care of herself. Born/lives: Dartmouth, Massachusetts, USA with her military husband John, daughter Anna and occasionally visiting son, Jason. Kathleen works in an office and she makes work her life, is often taking business calls and stays late at work. When John is away, she works
- 2. excessively to prevent herself from missing him. She likes to spend her spare time with her family. Lauren Hammond, 18 Years Old Physical characteristics: long red hair, green/blue eyes, white American, medium height, slim, female. She wears dull and dark clothing. Personality: quiet, intelligent, brave but withdrawn and very private. Born/lives: Dartmouth, Massachusetts, USA with her parents Patricia and Dave. She is an only child. She recently graduated from Dartmouth high school and is preparing to study journalism at University in New York (NYU). Lauren seems withdrawn and unsocial to the outside world, as she likes to be by herself and not socialise with people at her high school as she thinks they don’t have anything valuable to offer. Lauren is averagely liked, but some people think she is weird and attempt to bully her. She feels lonely and like an outcast as she feels like she has nothing in common with her generation. Lauren feels she’s too intelligent for her own good and often wished she fit in with society. She smokes and drinks in an attempt to block out her feelings. Lauren spends her time watching crime documentaries, reading a range of books, painting and observing the people that surround her. She often sits in a café in town, and people watches whilst noting her findings in her diary/log book. Patricia Hammond, Early 50’s Physical characteristics: white mid length hair, brown eyes, white American, medium height, female. She wears cardigans and chunky knits often. Personality: motherly, kind, helpful, caring, nosey, a gossip but means well. Born/lives: Dartmouth, Massachusetts, USA with her husband Dave and daughter Lauren. Patricia runs a flower shop in town with Dave. She acts a lot older than she is and adopts many characteristics that a cliché grandmother would have. She is bubbly and outgoing, her heart is in the right place but she gossips harmlessly as she is bored with her small town life. She dreams about
- 3. travelling America in an RV but thinks the rest of the family is happy so doesn’t want to upset them by following her desires. Dave Hammond, Late 50’s Physical characteristics: white short hair, blue eyes, white American, tall and slim, male. He wears shirts tucked into jeans. Personality: manly and can be pig-headed but is caring, considerate and gentle when he’s with his family. Born/lives: Dartmouth, Massachusetts, USA with his wife Patricia and daughter Lauren. Dave helps Patricia run the flower shop in town. In his spare time, Dave enjoys golf and fishing. He knows Patricia is unhappy but is never sure of the reason and assumes it’s him so he is constantly trying to help and please her. Principal Dennis Keller, 40’s Physical characteristics: shaved head, brown eyes, African American, tall and slightly overweight, male. He wears drab suits. Personality: helpful, witty, happy, upbeat and often comes out with quirky quotes and remarks, friendly and a pillar of the community. Born in Texas but moved to Dartmouth, Massachusetts, USA as his wife Janet is from there. He lives with her and his three small children. Dennis is the principal of Dartmouth High School and frequently pushes and helps the pupils to do well in their studies. He is well liked.
