Networked learning
eLearner
Disadvantages of PLE Not everybody is confident enough to manage their own learning and design their own PLE. Not everybody wants to be a self managed eLearner The sophistication an big number of tools that can be used may scare people The organizations are scared of losing control of what people learn inside them LMS could be useful instead of PLE for novices to participate in easy to follow formal courses.
Advantages of PLE Best solution for self managed learning and informal learning Learners are able to choose the best tools and best design for their learning needing Very useful for people that use Web 2.0 tools (social web). PLEs are really good for workplace learning and people that already knows about something and want to improve in that field. If you need an LMS , just include that in your set of learning tools in your own PLE .
