Hyper loop concept
 The Hyperloop is a high-speed transportation system.
 Till now, we are using four modes of transportation Roadway, Ship, railway,
airway. Now to add to this, we have the fifth mode of transportation is Hyperloop.
 There are two main components in the Hyperloop: Tube and Capsule.
 Hyperloop consists of a low pressure tube with capsules that are transported at
both low and high speeds throughout the length of the tube.
 The capsules will be powered by solar power.
 The Hyperloop will also be capable of generating power.
 First Idea proposed by Elon Musk in 2012.
 He declared it as open source.
 Need for 5th mode of transportation.
 He invited many companies for Research and Investment.
 In 2012 this idea was only on the paper.
 In 2013-2014 he created the firm ‘Hyperloop’.
 Created a 3 Km Prototype in America for testing his idea in 2016
and the result was positive.
 There will be 2600 routes in 90 countries for the Hyperloop. 4
routes have been confirmed in India.
2. Capsule
1. Tubes
3. Propulsion
4. Route
 Tube will be used for going and coming from and to a particular destination.
 The tube is made of steel.
 The Tube Will Be Supported by Pillars.
 Two tubes will be welded together, side by side configured to allow the capsules to travel
in both directions.
 Solar panels will cover the top of
the tubes in order to provide
power to the system.
 The diameter of the entire tube is
of 2 m.
 Magnet will be fitted inside the tube.
 Minimum amount of air will be
present inside the tube.
 Sealed capsules work on
Solar Power with max. speed of
1200Km/hr.
 The maximum height is 1.10 m
whereas the maximum width is
1.35m.
 The capsules are accelerated via a
magnetic linear accelerator.
 The capsules are supported via air
bearings and air bearing work on
electromagnetic suspension principle
for contactless surface between tubes
and capsules.
Air bearings:-
• ( aerostatic or aerodynamic
bearings) are fluid bearings that use
a thin film of pressurized gas to
provide a low friction load-bearing
interface between surfaces.
• The two surfaces do not touch, thus
avoiding the traditional bearing-
related problems of friction, wear,
particulates, and lubricant handling,
and offer distinct advantages in
precision positioning, such as
lacking backlash and static friction,
as well as in high-speed
applications.

 Linear accelerators are constructed
along the length of the tube at various
locations to accelerate the capsules.
 Capsules are accelerated by linear
magnetic induction and decelerated by
regenerative braking similar to
magnetic levitation trains.
 The Hyperloop uses a linear induction
motor to accelerate and decelerate the
capsule.

1. At present there will a station at Los Angeles and San Francisco along with the
way will be possible with splits in the tube.
2. The majority of the route will follow highway and the tube constructed in the
median.
ROUTES IN INDIA
 Bengaluru to Thiruvananthapuram
• 736 KM. • 41 Minutes.
 Delhi To Mumbai (Jaipur , Indoor),
• 1416 KM • 55 Minutes.
 Mumbai To Chennai (Bengaluru),
• 1337 KM. • 50 Minutes.
 Bengaluru To Chennai,
• 334 Km. • 20 Minutes.
 Amravati To Vijayawada,
84 Km. 5 Minutes.
 Simply it have the same working principle of Air
Hockey.
 Air Hockey working principal – Air Hockey table will
have a mechanical mechanism that creates a cushion
of air (using air blower) below the table surface.
These air create a air pressure on table surface and
makes a frictionless surface by which the Puck is
levitate ( or float ) on surface and travels smoothly .
 So as like air hockey for levitation (floating) in
Hyperloop is known as Magnetic Levitation technique
.
 Magnetic Levitation is a method by which an object is
suspended with no support other than magnetic field .
 This magnetic levitation is use in air bearing
(magnetic bearing ) for levitation of capsule (or pods)
within the tubes .
 Air bearing (magnetic bearing) support moving parts
without physical contact, there is using
electromagnets which require continuous power input
and an active control system to keep the load stable.
Air Hockey
ADVANTAGES
 This Is The Fastest Ground Based Transportation Technology.
 It Save The Fuel (Diesel , Petrol).
 No Noise Pollution.
 100% Clean:- Environmentally Friendly.
 It Is One Cheapest Modes Of Transportation.
 Consumes Very Little Energy.
 Sustainable (Uses Solar Energy).
LIMITATIONS
 Due To G-force There Can Be Some Issues.
 Fully Closed Tube. No More Space.
 It Will Only Travel From One Point To Another Point and Does Not Stop In
between.
• As it has number of advantages it will very helpful for transport
public as well as goods in a very short time ( at top speed of 1220
km/h) and also in low cost.
• It is new concept so there is some future work will be required for
development of this project.
• It will greatly reduce the travel time and cost, making this mode
of transportation available to the general public such as the middle
class and lower classes as they cannot afford to travel by special
trains or air.
