It is a key player in the regulation of major processes such as cell adhesion, inflammatory disorders, and tumor progression. The total chain length is 184 amino acids, out of which the signal peptide of 19 amino acids is cleaved to form the active protein of 165 amino acids. The active protein runs about 25 kilodaltons on Western blot.
