The paper presents a modified pulse width modulation (MPWM-LFT) switching strategy for asymmetric multilevel inverters (AMLI) aimed at minimizing total harmonic distortion (THD) in voltage outputs. This approach operates with a reduced number of switching devices and optimizes output voltage angles resulting in a significantly lower THD of 11.6% compared to 21.5% and 17.5% achieved through conventional MPWM and SPWM strategies. The study demonstrates that the MPWM-LFT is more efficient, enhancing performance in open-loop systems by reducing switching losses.
