There	 are	 different	 methodologies	 that	 have	 adempted	 to	 measure	
profitability	and	impact	of	using	online	learning	plaRorms,	all	of	which	focus	on	
a	 set	 of	 quan,fiable	 and	 non-quan,fiable	 aspects.	 These	 methods	 consider	
different	 items	 from	 various	 perspec,ves.	 The	 purpose	 of	 this	 work	 is	 to	
assess	 each	 one	 and	 determine	 the	 suitable	 indicators	 applicable	 to	 the	
reality	 of	 higher	 educa-on	 in	 Ecuador.	 A	 hybrid	 model	 with	 characteris,cs	
from	different	perspec,ves	could	be	designed	with	these	indicators.

This	study	addresses	the	way	in	which	personal	social	networks	could	
facilitate	the	collabora-ve	construc-on	of	knowledge	considering		the	
poten,al	of		Collabora,ve	Computer	Assisted	Learning		(CSCL)	as	a		resource.	
The	state	of	the	art	of	social	networks	in	educa,onal	contexts	is	shown	and	
methodological	
proposals	to	analyze	interac,ons	highligh,ng	models	used	to	iden,fy	both	the	
way	that	knowledge	is	socially	constructed	as	observable	behavioral	profile	
interac,ons,	are	men,oned.

This	study	aims	to	evaluate	the	quality	of	educa-onal	websites	focused	on	
learning	support	of	two	degrees	of	educa-on,	Primary	School	and	the	High	school.	
To	develop	this	analysis	we	used	a	Model	of	Evalua,on	of	the	Quality	of	
Educa,onal	Websites	(EQEWS).	This	model	of	evalua,on	applied	to	57	websites.	
The	data	subjected	to	sta,s,cal	analysis.	We	concluded	that	educa,onal	websites	
that	had	beder	ranking	with	higher	average	values	were	affected	by	High	School	
sites.	And	the	creators	of	these	resources	aren’t	conscience	of	the	importance	to	
assess	their	resources	from	heuris,cs	evalua,on,	even	before	puong	them	on	the	
Internet.

This	paper	describes	the	u,lity	of	a	framework	of	corpora,ve	IT	(Informa,on	
Technology)	Governance	and	how	a	specific,	simpler	and	scalable	model	can	be	
a	reference	and	used	in	the	Ecuadorian	public	universi,es.	The	IT	department	
objec-ves	must	be	aligned	with	the	ins-tu-onal	objec-ves.	Ini,al	data	are	
collected	 trough	 instruments,	 using	 a	 generic	 framework	 as	 reference	 and	
applying	the	model	to	the	university.	The	results	will	jus,fy	and	validate	the	
contribu,on	of	this	research.	It	is	finally	concluded	that,	the	IT	not	only	serve	
to	 automate	 the	 processes,	 but	 they	 must	 also	 get	 involved	 in	 the	 core	
business	and	strategy.

	Engineering	educa,on	has	solid	needs	of	experimental	competences	development.	
Nowadays	these	competences	can	be	developed	not	only	in	tradi,onal	laboratories	
(hands	on)	but	also	through	the	use	of	computer	simula,ons	and	remote	labs.		
The	main	objec,ve	of	this	thesis	project	is	to	beder	understand	the	effects	on	the	
students’	learning	outcomes	in	different	contexts,	when	subject	to	similar	design	
approaches	using	an	enquiry-based	teaching	and	learning	methodology	based	on	
simultaneous	use	of	experimental	resources	(hands	on,	simula,on	and	remote	
labs)	together	with	calculus,	in	class	and	assessment.	To	accomplish	this	goal,	
several	insights	must	be	taken	into	considera,on,	including	the	teachers’	media,on	
in	each	case	and	the	didac,cal	implementa,ons	adapta,ons,	but	also	external	
factors,	such	as	socio-cultural	and/or	poli,cal	factors.

Currently,	there	exist	very	powerful	Open	Source	sopware	applica,ons	that	
cover	most	of	the	ICT	needs	of	any	ins,tu,on,	both	for	its	opera,on	and	
internal	processes	management.	In	this	context,	the	technological	effort	of	
companies	and	ins,tu,ons	is	not	in	the	development	of	new	sopware	tools	but	
to	create	their	own	technological	ecosystem	using	available	sopware	
components.	The	main	objec,ve	of	this	thesis	project	is	to	propose	a	
framework	for	the	defini-on	and	evolu-on	of	technological	ecosystems	by	
analysing	integra,on	of	different	sopware	solu,ons	and	support	decision	
making	by	analysing	data	flows	and	informa,on	generated	by	them.

	Computer	 Aided	 Diagnosis	 and	 Detec,on	 (CAD),	 is	 an	 automated	 tool	 for	
specialists	who	interpret	medical	images,	that	provides	informa,on	which	can	
be	used	as	a	“second	opinion”,	or	supplementary	data	in	their	decision	making	
process.	 The	 main	 objec,ve	 of	 the	 first	 phase	 of	 this	 disserta,on	 is	 the	
development	of	CAD	schemes,	based	in	the	machine	learning	models	called	
Ar-ficial	 Neural	 Networks,	 which	 could	 be	 applied	 to	 different	 image	
modali-es.	 The	 valida,on	 of	 the	 system	 in	 clinical	 prac,ce	 and	 the	
inves,ga,on	of	their	possible	uses	as	an	educa,onal	tool	for	trainees	during	
medical	residency	programs	is	the	second	phase.
