 There are over 75,000 students studying in SAUs.
Apart from this, there are large number of
private colleges; both affiliated & non – affiliated
to SAUs which constitute to a large number of
Agri-graduates being followed up every year.
GAP between Agri-graduates

There is a thick line between number of
Agri-graduates passing out every year and
job opportunities available for them in

requirement of creation of jobs to the
rising number on a large scale which is
technically a mammoth task for any

‘Rose has dependably been appreciated for its excellence and scent. It
involves the main position in International market of cut blossoms. Rose
cultivation in India is winding up increasingly prevalent due to its
expansion popular as cut blossom and higher business picks up.
Commercial rose flower growing include production and sale of plants,
flower and their products. In loose flower trade, fully developed flowers

technologies and best brains. Mrs. Ankita Phadtare, an agriculture
graduate, has converted semi-arid lands into green-lands of this Rose
Cultivation. The dedicated and energetic lady of Kalamb Village, Pune

“It was quite fun having this wholesome universe, bonding with
creatures of all different types that, today, some kids only see in books
or a movie,” Dr. Umretiya says, smiling. “For me, they were a normal
part of a family and a natural fixture of the environment. There was a
relationship there; I developed a bond with animals”. Dr. Umretiya
belonged to an agrarian family of the small village of Gujarat. His father
is an arts graduate who runs a provision store along with farming in his
village and mother is a homemaker. He completed his primary
education in his premises after that he moved to the city of Vadodara
for higher education. His family were very fond of pets and were
keeping the dog for a very long time which led him to choose veterinary
sciences. “I was attracted to the science and healing aspects of
medicine, and treating animals would be a plus,” he explains. Dr.
Umretiya studied at the Anand Agriculture University, Anand obtaining

Advice to Budding Entrepreneurs
Recommendations
• Agriculture subject should be made
compulsory at school level.
• Curriculum comprising Agricultural
Marketing, Trade & Prices should be
broadened a bit where people starting
new businesses and existing business
visionaries struggle more often.
• The subject of Entrepreneurship
Development & Business Communication
which was recently added in curriculum
should be focused more by having
interactions between students and Agri-
graduates turned entrepreneurs.
• Home Science which is also called as
Community Sciences should also
encourage some courses on Agricultural
Marketing.
• New entrepreneurial ventures should be
identified in various Agricultural Sciences
and there should be a Vocational
Counselling Cell within each college limits
for entrepreneurial development.
• The Placement cells should handle the
responsibility of exposing budding Agri-
graduates to entrepreneurship core and
should be indulged in entrepreneurial
ventures supporting activities and
handholding for few years.
• Information Technology aspect to be
strengthen in the curriculum and Agri-
graduates should be taught the
importance of Information Technology
usage in Agriculture such as business
marketing by means of Digital Marketing
Recommendations
• Innovation knowledge should be
promoted among Agri-graduates and the
phenomenon of awarding candidates
with suitable innovative ideas to be
endorsed in the Universities.
• The Success Stories of Agri-graduates
should be shared with budding Agri-
graduates by means of providing them
with literature of success stories, video
films and Face-to-Face interactions with
successful entrepreneurs.
• These stories should also be shared with
industry giants which can form a linkage
between them and Upcoming Agri-
graduates and may result in few fruitful
ventures in the near future.
•
• Languages should be given a special
attention and Hindi and English
languages must be made compulsory
throughout the country’s educational
limits in order to boost business
marketing capabilities of upcoming
entrepreneurs and should be included in
Fifth Deans Committee Report
curriculum.
• Importance should be given to banking
knowledge and filling up the financial
need of the upcoming graduates by
making them aware of the financial
policies of the country and processes
involved in retrieving loan facilities and
other important requirements.
