USE OF
ENGLISH:WILL /
WON’T
We normally
use WILL to speak
about the future. It is
always combined with
another verb.
Remember!
We can use ‘will’ or ‘’ll’ to talk about the
future and make future predictions. For the
negative, we can say ‘will not’ or ‘won’t’.
I’ll live in a big house when I’m older.
She will have lots of pets.
Children won’t go to school in the future.
We will not drive normal cars.
•I will go to the cinema
tonight.
•He will play tennis tomorrow.
•She will be happy with her
exam results.
•They will take the bus to the
South next week.
You can use will / won’t for
future predictions.
Example:
•The world’s population will
reach 10 billion in the year
2050.
With will, it’s common to use the short
forms:
•I will –> I’ll
•You will –> You’ll
•He will –> He’ll
•She will –> She’ll
•It will –> It’ll
•We will –> We’ll
•They will –> They’ll
•Will you get a promotion next year?
Yes, I think I will!
•Will he travel to the U.S.A. next year?
No, he won’t.
•Will the economy improve next year?
Yes, it will.
•Will we buy a house next year?
No, we won’t.
•Will they win the lottery next year?
