Week two
- 1. Peek at the Week: o This week students were introduced to the consonant sound of /s/ and our new high frequency word “I”. o Also, in Reading, we practiced rhyming words, introduced the letter Ss, blended syllables, and used character and setting to understand a story. We also began classifying and categorizing! o In Math we began Chapter Three, numbers six through nine. o In science, we discussed reptiles. o In handwriting, we are working on printing the uppercase and lowercase Ss. o Students also talked about how people have jobs to earn money. Coming Up: o Next week in Reading students will be introduced to the consonant sound of /m/ and our new high frequency word “is”. o Also, in Reading, we will identify and recall story details, identify capital and lowercase letters, and blend and read short /a/ words. o In Math, we will working with the numbers seven and eight. o In Science, we will discuss mammals. o Students will learn how to print the uppercase and lowercase Mm. Reminders: o Rest items were sent home today for washing. Please return rest time items on Monday. o You have already received the Conference Reminder Slips. I look forward to seeing all of you at conferences. If you have any issues with scheduling, please send in a note and we will try to find a time. o No School on Thursday, November 9th and Friday, November 10th . o November book orders are enclosed. o Students can bring in activity or coloring books to use during inside recess. o Family Turkey Projects can be sent in any time. We will be having a Veteran’s Day program at Penn Cambria Pre- Primary. Students are learning about the importance of our Veterans and will have the chance to meet some.
