Peek at the Week:
o The students identified the upperand lowercase
letters Aa through Kk.
o We introduced ourfirst high frequencyword “the,
see,look”.
o We practiced using illustrations to help comprehend
a story and identifying left and right.
o We began oursmall, leveled reading groups. We
are working on writing first names,letter
identification, and rhyming.
o The students worked on properpencilholding and
tracing lines. We continue to practice writing
names.
o In Math, the students practiced colorpatterns,
discussed volume ofliquid/sand and graphed
birthdays.
o This week in Science,we identified parts of plants
and whatthey need to grow.
Coming Up:
o In reading we will be working on the
letters Ll through Zz, retelling a story
in sequence and the newhigh
frequency words “a, it, on”.
o The students will be practicing
printing their names and different
strokes used to make letters on lined
paper.
o In science,we will continue learning
aboutplants and howthey grow.
o During math, the students will learn
aboutnumbers in ourworld
(telephone,address,patterns) and
examine different shapes.
o We will continue to discuss
community helpers nextweek.
Reminders:
o Students need to be practicing letter and number
recognition to reinforce what is being taught in
school.
o Library Books - We will check out books every
Tuesday. Please return them by the following
Tuesday!
o Please monitor your child for proper pencil and
scissor grasp.
o Don’t forget to check the snack calendar for your
child’s snack day!
o Students had a chance to meet our Guidance
Counselor, Mr. Brown. They discussed bus rules
and how he can help students if they have problems!
