VISUAL
TECHNOLOGIES
Objectives:
Describe the different digital audio/ visual
technologies used in effective teaching and
learning
Determine the importance and limitations of
each digital audio / visual technologies.
Technologies
Technologies today is universal.
You can see different technologies anytime, anywhere, and any when. Through
technology, the world become dynamic.
Teaching is now under influenced by the technology; it is within the dynamic era of
the society. The technological rise-up made this educational institutions offers quality
education that so on produce globally and competitive graduates whom become the ace
for success of every nation.
Digital Visual Technologies in Teaching and Learning
1. Interactive Whiteboard
Uses for interactive whiteboard may include:
Running software that is loaded onto the connected PC, such as a web browser or
other software used in the classroom.
Using an Audience Response System so that presenters can poll a classroom
audience or conduct quizzes, capturing feedback on the whiteboard.
An Interactive Whiteboard is a large
interactive display that connects to a
computer. A Projector projects the
computer’s desktop onto the board’s surface
where users control the computer using a
pen, finger, stylus, or other device. The board
is typically mounted to a wall or floor stand.
Functions of a ‘Tab’
• Quick digital note taking
• Calendar management, great for complex
schedules.
• Recording audio and video
•Delivering graphically-rich presentations,
support for flash and common office
formats
2. Tablet Computers
Tablet or sometimes referred to as a ‘tab’ is poised to become one of the important
digital tools in schools, universities and beyond, utilized by teachers and students alike.
Digital Visual Technologies in Teaching and Learning
3. Computers
A personal computer (PC) is a general-
purpose computer which intended to be
operated directly by an end-user with no
intervening computer operator.
Modern personal computers often have
connections to the Internet, allowing access
to the World Wide Web and a wide range of
other resources.
Digital Visual Technologies in Teaching and Learning
Personal computers may be connected to a local area network (LAN), either by a
cable or a wireless connection.
Although sometimes defined as “an electronic version of a printed book”, many e-
books exist without any printed equivalent. Commercially produced and sold e-
books are usually intended to be read on dedicated e-book readers, however,
almost any sophisticated electronic device that features a controllable viewing
screen, including computers, many mobile phones, and all Smartphone can also be
used to read e-books.
4. Electronic Book (E-book)
An electronic book is a book-length
publication in digital form, consisting of text,
images, or both, readable on computers or
other electronic devices.

5. Wireless Network
A Wireless network is any type of computer network that uses wireless
data connections for connecting network nodes.
Wireless networking is a method which homes and business installations
avoid the costly process of cables for connection.

II. Digital Video Editing
III. Internet Video
Digital Audio / Visual Media
I. Optical Media
Optical Media – such as the compact
disk (CD) – are storage media that hold
content in digital form and that are written
and read by a laser; these media include
all the various CD and DVD variations, as
well as optical jukeboxes and auto-
changers.
Media, in the computer world, refers to
various types of data storage. For
example, hard drives, CD’s DVD’s, and
USB drives are all different types of
media.
Digital Audio / Visual Media
Many people use the term editing to describe all their post-production work,
especially in non-professional situations. Whether or not you choose to be picky
about terminology is up to you. I, Mr. Felix, use the word editing to mean any of the
following:
o Rearranging, adding and/or removing sections of video clips and/or audio
clips
o Applying color corrections, filters and other enhancements
o Creating transitions between clips.
II. Digital Video Editing
Video editing is the process of editing
segments of motion video production
footage, special effects and sound
recordings in the post-production process.
The goal of editing is to manipulate
these events to bring the communication
closer to the original goal or target. It is
visual art.
Digital Audio / Visual Media
Types of Video Editing
Film Splicing
- it’s film editing. Editing the moving pictures and conceptually it
forms the basis of all video editing.
Tape to Tape (Linear)
- original method of editing electronic video tapes. The idea is to
record only those parts of the source tape you want to keep. In this way
desired footage is copied in the correct order from the original tape to a
new tape.
Digital/Computer (Non-linear)
- video footage is recorded onto a computer hard drive and then
edited using specialized software.
Live Editing/Vision Mixing
- selecting from several video sources and featuring it on the
broadcast.

1. Post the rules of netiquette and behavior expectations at the start of class.
2. Encourage students to introduce themselves and meet one another to form a
learning community where they will feel safe to share and discuss.
3. Develop discussion questions that allow the student to critically reflect on the
material and synthesize it with their own experiences.
4. Encourage students to participate early and often.
III. Internet Video
Web Conferencing
refers to a service that allows
conferencing events to be shared with
remote locations. These are sometimes
referred to as webinars or, for interactive
conferences, online workshops.

Tips for facilitating effective Online Discussion Forums
While YouTube can serve a business platform, most people simply visit YouTube
for fun. Since so many people carry digital cameras or cell phones with video
recording capability, more events are now captured on video than ever before.
While this has created an abundant collection of entertaining videos, it also means
that people should be aware that whatever they do in public might be caught on
video. And if something is recorded on video, it just might end up on YouTube for
the whole world to see.
Youtube
video sharing service that allows
users to watch videos posted by other users
and upload videos of their own.
It is a wide range of videos
available on YouTube. Some examples
include films, music videos, instructional
video, tutorials, and other.

  • #9: How to setup the game: Use the outline tab to fill in your questions. Questions should have 4 answers, not necessarily all realistic. How to play the game: When the question slide comes up it will bring up the questions and answer choices. Click on the answer students choose. It will ask if this is your final answer. If you click on yes, the answer will be revealed. If you click on no, it will laugh. Lifelines: There are 3 lifelines: phone a friend, poll the audience, and 50 / 50. Depending how you have your game setup with your students you can play these different ways. If you click on the icon for one of these 3 it will take you to a new slide. Phone a friend could be they can ask one person to help them. With Poll the audience, have the class to vote on the answer. 50 / 50 the teacher can tell them which 2 are not answers. Click on the U shaped arrow and it will return you to the question.
