Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is an approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in California. NLP makes presuppositions that people already have the resources for change and that there is no failure, only feedback. NLP works with representational systems, including the five senses of visual, auditory, kinesthetic, gustatory, and olfactory. It also uses submodalities to understand the qualities of sensory representations and the meta-model to find explicit meanings in communication through questions. Sensory acuity allows inferring thoughts by observing expressions and body language.

- 5. TOOLS OF NLP PRESUPPOSITIONS : NLP makes a number of presuppositions or assumptions are the beliefs a person will find useful in effecting changes to themselves & to the world. Eg : People already have all the resources they need. You cannot fail to communicate. There is no such thing as failure . There is only feedback.
- 6. REPRESENTATIONAL SYSTEMS : It consist of our 5 senses. They are: Visual (images) Auditory (sounds) Kinesthetic (touch & internal feelings) Gustatory (tastes) Olfactory (smells) Every one of us uses one or a combination of these senses to perceive the world. The brain gets the "picture" of what we are talking about from one or from a combination of these senses and senses alone.
- 7. SUBMODALITIES : The qualities and attributes of the representations you make using your five senses are called modalities. META-MODEL : Meta model in NLP is a set of questions designed to find the explicit meaning in a person's communication. Eg: Subject: I am so tired. Analyst: What makes you tired?
- 8. SENSORY ACUITY: We can take one look at a person and can infer a great deal about what they are thinking or what their thought process is at that time. Eg: we will know when a person is happy or unhappy.
