IMPORTANCE OF PSYCHOLOGY
 We make use of Psychology
everyday of our life though we are
not aware of it
 We use it when we are talking with
friends and with every one around us
 Every one use it in when arguing and
reasoning
 Even parents use it in disciplining
their children
Basic Importance of Psychology
 It Help in Building Relationships
• It helps strengthening a relationship and
making everyday lives better through
escalating a person’s self-knowledge and
understanding towards another individual
 It Improves Daily Communication
• By understanding Psychology, people learn on
how to communicate effectively towards on e
another. It teaches people to understand what
others are saying and of course in
comprehending the person’s actions or
gestures towards a certain condition
Basic Importance of Psychology
 It Builds Self-Confidence
• The more you know, and discover about yourself,
your being, your personality and your weaknesses,
he more you seek for self-improvement and when
that happens your self-confidence are increasing
 It Enriches Careers
• By knowing better and understanding co-workers
or classmates you are able to get along with them,
you know where to stand as you know where they
are coming from and what they are going through.
Psychology teaches you how to correctly and
rightfully deal with other people around you. As
this condition continues occurring in a work place,
it will positively enrich everyone’s career
PERSONALITY PLUS
 Talks about four key personality types
 Any such system has to make generalizations,
trying to find a balance between accurate
portrayals and a usable number of types
 The Personality Plus system allows for extensions
by mixing profiles, such as describing someone
as a Choleric Sanguine, rather than just Choleric
or Sanguine
 The system exists not simply to describe an
individual's personality type but rather to
highlight those aspects of personality which
relate to interactions between people

THE DEVELOPMENT
OF
PSYCHOLOGY

WHAT IS PSYCHOLOGY?
PSYCHOLOGY
MENTAL PHILOSOPHY STUDY OF THE MIND SCIENCE OF BEHAVIOR
• Greek words
psyche (soul)
Logos (discourse)
Study of the soul
• Soul means feelings
or emotion
• 4th century translation
psyche (mind)
logos (study)
• Being used till the
present time
• Eventually replaced
today
• A science because it
is:
-systematic
-empirical
-dependent upon
measurement
MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT PSYCHOLOGY
 Psychologists can read mind
 Psychologists can estimate one’s character
at a glance
 Psychologists are authorities on such
things as spiritualism and even fortune
telling
 NOTE:
 In America, a psychologist may be called upon to
explain how a present famous “mind reader” does his
tricks, how a certain astrologer could have predicted
some historical events
