The height andwidthis measured inpixels as well. If your monitor is set to 800x600 pixelsandthen you openup animage whichis 640x480 pixelsthe image willonlyfill part of the screen. Picture Element: A Picture Element is a little square in animage it is more commonlyknownas a pixel and the more picture elements inside an image the more clearer the image will become. A collection ofpicture elements willcreate a picture like the one below. 2D SPRITES 2d Sprites are 2d bitmaps that are drawn directlyto render a target without using lighting or e ffects. 2d spriteswere used in the 80's and90's. Street Fighter uses these 2d sprites as the picture shows below

Dahir karshe 12C Creative mediaMr.Akitt UNIT 13: The purpose of it is to give an illusionof the personor object is moving. 3D ISOMETRIC SPRITES 3d Sprites are similar to 2d Sprites but gives illusion ofthe object or character a 3d look. 3d Spriteswere first usedin the early90's byPrince of Persia, there are 3 methods to imitate a 2d Sprite intoa 3d Sprite, andtheyare: Rotoscoping (Above) Patent drawing for Fleischer original Rotoscoping. Claymation ClayFighter used Claymation, other games that usedit is Doom. CGI (Computer GeneratedImagery) (above) an example of a computer generated image. The purpose of it is to give an illusionof an object or character that it is 3d and moving. CONCEPT ART Concept art is a form of illustrationthat is usedto make a visual representationof a design or ideafor use ina video game or film. Below is anexample of a concept workflow(blue) followedby3d modelling (red).the purposeof concept art is to promote the game byfeaturingit ina magazine. Also, it gives the developers ideasof what enemies, buildings, characters and objects is going to look like whenit is developed.
